Job summary

Sterling Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Low Voltage Switchgear Assembler for a 1st shift contract in Dallas, TX. You will assemble components for low voltage switchgear cabinets and power distribution systems, using hand and power tools with attention to blueprints and written instructions.

The ideal candidate has 0–2 years in manufacturing or assembly, can read drawings, and has basic math skills. This role requires standing, lifting up to 35 pounds, and a commitment to safety and quality.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 0–2 years of manufacturing or assembly experience.
  • Experience using hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read and follow written work instructions and drawings.
  • Basic math and reading comprehension.
  • Ability to stand and lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Forklift/reach truck/scissor lift experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Review blueprints and follow procedures to complete assemblies.
  • Perform mechanical assembly of components for switchgear cabinets and enclosures.
  • Use hand and power tools to assemble and fit parts.
  • Conduct quality checks against specifications and quality standards.
  • Identify and report defects or assembly issues.
  • Maintain a clean, safe workstation and PPE; follow safety procedures.

This role will support the assembly of fabricated metal components and electrical equipment used in low voltage switchgear cabinets and power distribution systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on assembly or manufacturing experience, be comfortable using hand and power tools, and have the ability to follow blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written work instructions. This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong mechanical aptitude who enjoys hands-on work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.Job Duties:• Review and follow blueprints, diagrams, drawings, procedures, and work instructions to complete assemblies.• Perform mechanical assembly of components used in low voltage switchgear cabinets and enclosures.• Use hand and power tools, including drills, impacts, screwdrivers, grinders, and measuring tools.• Conduct quality checks to ensure assembled products meet specifications and quality standards.• Identify, record, and report product defects or assembly issues.• Maintain inventory of necessary supplies, tools, and parts at the workstation.• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.• Follow all required safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE.• Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications:• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.• 0–2 years of experience in a manufacturing, assembly, mechanical, electrical, or production environment.• Experience using hand and power tools.• Ability to read and follow written work instructions, blueprints, diagrams, schematics, or engineering drawings.• Basic understanding of measurements and ability to use tools such as a tape measure.• Strong attention to detail and ability to perform work accurately.• Basic math and reading comprehension skills.• Experience operating powered equipment such as forklifts, reach trucks, scissor lifts, or overhead cranes is a plus.• Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift.• Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 35 pounds.• Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.• Ability to work safely while wearing required PPE.#pro1Qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, age, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or genetic information.
