Job Title: Lead Electrical Wirer - Switchgear

Pay Rate: $23.00 - $27.00 / hour

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled, detail-oriented Lead Electrical Wirer - Switchgear to assemble, wire, test, and troubleshoot custom power distribution equipment. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the reliability and safety of switchgear systems, control cabinets, and related power assemblies. Beyond hands-on wiring, this role involves reviewing schematics, performing functional testing, collaborating with engineering teams, and helping interview and train junior assemblers.

Key Responsibilities

• Assembly & Wiring

  • Assemble switchgear panels, control cabinets, and related assemblies based on engineering drawings and technical specifications.

  • Wire electrical components-including circuit breakers, relays, transformers, and busbars-according to schematics.

  • Terminate and connect cables, wiring, and electrical components accurately and cleanly.

• Testing, Troubleshooting & Compliance

  • Perform continuity and functional tests on wired assemblies to verify proper operation.

  • Identify, troubleshoot, and correct electrical issues or wiring errors in switchgear systems.

  • Ensure all wiring and assemblies comply with company quality standards, electrical codes, and industry specifications.

  • Adhere strictly to workplace safety protocols, including required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

• Technical Leadership, Documentation & Collaboration

  • Review and interpret complex electrical blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics.

  • Assist in interviewing potential candidates and training assemblers on proper wiring techniques and standards.

  • Document wiring modifications, issues, and resolutions for future technical reference.

  • Work closely with engineers, production managers, and quality control staff to meet production targets.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Qualifications & Skills

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; technical certification in electrical wiring or a related field preferred.

• Experience: Proven experience in electrical wiring, switchgear assembly, or related technical manufacturing. Prior experience with low- or medium-voltage switchgear systems is strongly preferred.

• Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagrams.

  • Skilled in using manual and power tools (wire strippers, crimpers, drills, screwdrivers).

  • Working knowledge of basic electrical codes, standards, and safety practices.

• Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, diagnostic problem-solving abilities, effective communication, and leadership capabilities to train team members.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. independently.

• Ability to stand, bend, and perform repetitive assembly tasks for extended periods in a manufacturing environment.

• Flexibility for occasional overtime or shift adjustments to meet deadline goals.
