Job Overview

The Low Voltage Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing low-voltage wiring systems, including alarms, security systems, and fire alarms. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication with clients to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality service.

Responsibilities

As a Low Voltage Technician you will:

  • Coordinate with clients to install and service low-voltage systems on-site.
  • Respond to repair calls and troubleshoot system issues.
  • Read and interpret blueprints to determine optimal system layout and wiring.
  • Test systems for proper functionality and troubleshoot any issues.
  • Train clients on how to operate their installed systems.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED certificate.

  • Technician certification.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Previous electrician experience .
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of electrical safety procedures.
  • Ability to maintain and upgrade life safety systems (hardware and software).
  • Ability to maintain an accurate inventory of all life safety equipment, including service records, upgrades, and warranty information.

Working Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Work in various environments, including outdoors and exposed to weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, wind, or dust).
  • Exposure to loud noise, hazardous materials, and extreme temperatures may occur.
  • Physical requirements include climbing, standing, stooping, crawling, kneeling, and typing.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • May require working weekends, nights, or on-call as part of the job.
  • Travel requirements: 25-50%.

Equipment & Tools

  • Routinely uses hand tools, power tools, and electronic testing devices.
  • May also use computer/laptop, keyboard, and mouse for documentation and reporting.

Review & Evaluation

  • Evaluation after 90 days of employment.
  • Annual performance reviews thereafter.
