The role emphasizes training under supervision with increasing independence as skills grow. You will use oscilloscopes, multimeters, dielectric testers, power supplies and loads to validate performance. Familiarity with drawings and manuals is required.

Qualifications

  • Electrical and mechanical testing experience preferred.
  • Ability to read electrical/mechanical drawings and manuals.
  • Familiarity with Hi-Pot/high voltage testing.
  • Familiarity with hand and power tools.

Responsibilities

  • Execute electrical and mechanical tests on switchgear, subcomponents, and cell-related items.
  • Use AC dielectric testers, AC/DC power supplies, oscilloscopes, multimeters, current sources, and electronic loads to validate performance.
  • Read and follow basic electrical/mechanical drawings, codes, schematics, manuals, blueprints, and procedures; capture results accurately.
  • Configure equipment and wiring to test low- and medium-voltage breakers for refurbishments and new builds per engineering direction.
  • Perform point-to-point wire verification and test subassemblies using foundational electro-mechanical theory.
  • Install components, units, subassemblies, wiring, and casings with rivets, bolts, and connectors.
  • Plan, lay out, assemble, or fabricate mechanical, electrical, and basic pneumatic/hydraulic equipment as needed.

A day in this roleIn our New Stanton, PA shop, you’ll begin your day reviewing test plans and engineering documents for a lineup of low and medium voltage switchgear. Under the guidance of your supervisor, you’ll set up test stations, connect instruments, and verify that each unit performs to spec. Decision-making autonomy increases with experience.Location and reportingThis position is based in New Stanton, PA and reports to the Assistant Area Manager, Mechanical Product.What you bringHigh School Diploma or equivalent.0–2 years of experience demonstrating electrical, mechanical, machining, or inspection skills.Ability to interpret electrical/mechanical drawings and perform assembly and wiring.Familiarity with electrical equipment, painting methods, and safe use of hand and power tools.Proficiency in Hi-Pot (High Potential) / High Voltage testing.Nice to haveExperience in the nuclear industry.
