Job summary

Talan is seeking a skilled C++ Software Engineer to build a greenfield, low-latency market data application for a high-frequency trading environment. The role is a hybrid NYC position, with heavy onsite presence required, and a 6-month scope that can extend to 12 months.

You will design and implement high-performance C++ systems, work on real-time data processing, and integrate market data protocols like ITCH, PITCH, and OUCH. Visa sponsorship is not provided by Talan.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of C++ backend development.
• Strong C++ programming and OO design (C++23 or C++17).
• Excellent data structures, algorithms, and system design knowledge.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with real-time or low-latency systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop high-performance C++ systems for a market data application.
• Apply OOP, patterns, data structures, and algorithms for clean, maintainable code.
• Build scalable, low-latency components for real-time data processing.
• Develop network connectivity using UDP/TCP, including multicast.
• Implement and integrate market data protocols like ITCH, PITCH, OUCH.
• Build market data processing and order book components.
• Design concurrent, thread-safe systems focusing on latency and reliability.
• Profile, benchmark, and optimize performance-critical code.
• Reduce latency via advanced network and systems programming.
