Job summary

Tallgrass seeks a Manager–Business Development (Low Carbon) to grow its low-carbon portfolio through tax credit monetization, carbon markets, and new commercial opportunities across existing assets.

The role conducts market and financial analysis, builds models, and collaborates with Legal, Finance, Engineering, Operations, Tax, and Regulatory teams to negotiate and execute commercial agreements aligned with Tallgrass’s sustainability goals.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years of experience in energy operations, business development, commercial development, project development, or a related field.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Responsibilities

  • Develop strong understanding of low-carbon tax credits (e.g., 45Q, 45Z).
  • Build expertise in tax credit monetization structures like transferability and tax equity.
  • Coordinate with marketers to position 45Z tax credits for the market.
  • Support negotiation of tax credit transfer agreements to optimize value.
  • Assist with insurance products related to tax credits.
  • Develop knowledge of voluntary carbon markets and related services.
  • Coordinate with third-party marketers on carbon removal credits/pitches.
  • Support evaluation and alignment on registries for CDR issuance and sale.
  • Develop expertise in markets for lower‑carbon fuels and products.
  • Serve as internal commercial resource across International Development, Natural Gas, CO2, and related businesses.
  • Support development of low-carbon transportation pathways across Tallgrass assets.
  • Track market developments and educate internal teams on opportunities.
  • Understand mechanics of LCFS and other end markets.
  • Identify opportunities to extend Tallgrass assets’ value.
  • Support acquisition of third-party assets integrating sustainability.
  • Assist in developing and negotiating commercial agreements with internal teams.
  • Support growth of sustainability portfolio beyond existing footprint.
  • Evaluate investments and project economics for CO2 projects.
  • Provide industry research and business analysis.
  • Develop knowledge of business strategy, competitors, customers, and operations.
  • Maintain awareness of market conditions and emerging opportunities.
  • Generate reports and presentations for joint ventures and stakeholders.
  • Support modeling and scoping of project economics and commercial proposals.
  • Evaluate strategic opportunities to increase value.
  • Formulate and negotiate commercial terms for revenue-generating agreements.
  • Maintain contact with customers and partners to pursue CCUS opportunities.
  • Foster a collaborative, results-driven work environment.
  • Communicate goals, priorities, and progress to management.
  • Demonstrate high integrity, ethics, and safety.
