Job Summary
Lounge Attendant will welcome patrons, seat them at tables in the Courtyard or Lounge, and direct them to a menu to begin service. This person must be knowledgeable and up to date on current food and beverages offered at The Lounge. Customer satisfaction is priority number one at Hotel San Jose and our customers and guests alike have come to expect a level of care and service that exceeds expectations and inspires relaxation. So, we ask that you be friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable.
The Lounge Attendant must have good communication skills, be punctual in meeting guests' needs, and possess the ability to resolve conflict with a thorough understanding of Bunkhouse policies. All Bunkhouse employees are expected to greet all guests in close proximity and make each feel important by providing a genuine welcome. Furthermore, they must develop and maintain the company’s culture, values, and reputation in the public eye.
Responsibilities
· Ensure immediate response is given to all guest comments and concerns, inform the immediate supervisor of concerns, and assist in implementing corrective measures when necessary.
· Adhere to all standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, training material, memos, and verbal instruction.
· Greet guests and seat them at tables or in waiting areas.
· Assign patrons to tables suitable for their needs.
· Provide guests with menus and water.
· Inspect dining and serving areas to ensure cleanliness and proper setup.
· Speak with patrons to ensure satisfaction with food and service, and to respond to complaints.
· Maintain contact with kitchen staff, management, serving staff, and customers to ensure that dining details are handled properly and customers' concerns are addressed
· Inform patrons of establishment specialties and features
· Operate POS systems to accept payments for food and beverages.
· Prepare receipts after establishments close
· Coordinate activities of dining room staff to ensure that patrons receive prompt and courteous service.
· Take beverage orders from patrons
· Build cocktails and non-alcoholic beverage for patrons
· Explain how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients.
· Run prepared food & drinks to patrons.
· Set up and break down the courtyard area to lounge standards.
· Serve snacks or food items to customers as requested or submit orders to Kitchen.
· Clean glasses, utensils, and lounge equipment.
· Help plan and organize the menu and operations of the Cocktail Lounge or Bar
· Collect CC payment for all orders taken.
· Check identification of customers to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol.
· Attempt to limit problems and liability related to customers’ excessive drinking by taking steps such as persuading customers to stop drinking or ordering taxis or other transportation for intoxicated patrons.
· Maintain a high level of cleanliness and safety in the work area.
Qualifications
· 1-2 years of related experience in the hospitality or service industry
· Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
· Ability to understand other computer programs (i.e., Point of Sale)
· Ability to apply concepts of math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and algebra, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
· Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
· Ability to learn and perform all essential job functions accurately and safely.
· TABC License required
