Job summary

Cox Automotive is seeking a Lane Leader to coordinate vehicle movement through the sales lane to the block and parking after auction. You will oversee drivers and support staff to ensure smooth traffic flow and timely vehicle placement.

The role involves inspecting equipment, managing lane assignments, and addressing issues to maintain efficient operations. A valid driver's license and basic mechanical knowledge are required; outdoor work is typical.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED and 3 years' related experience.
• Alternative: any higher degree/cert beyond HS or GED in related field.
• Or 5 years' related experience in the field.
• Safe drivers needed; valid driver's license required.
• Ability to drive vehicles with both standard and automatic transmission.
• Basic mechanical knowledge: flat tires, low gas, jump-starting vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the movement of vehicles through the sales lane to the block and parking.
• Assign and oversee drivers, jump-start/battery, and push truck operators.
• Conduct inspections of support equipment for proper operation.
• Conduct presale meetings with drivers on routes and plans.
• Ensure vehicles are in assigned lane as scheduled.
• Identify missing vehicles and address overflow and inoperable units.
• Maintain run list for keys, late entries, and number changes.
• Respond to customer and dealer inquiries and concerns.
• Direct vehicle movement to maintain continuous traffic flow to the block.
• Oversee parking of sold and non-sold vehicles.
• Report theft, lot damage, or safety concerns to management.

Job description

Lane Leader

Coordinates the physical movement of vehicles through the sales lane to the block and parking following auction. Makes and oversees the assignments of drivers, jump start/battery operators and push truck operators in promoting a smooth flow of traffic through the auctioning process.

• Conduct inspection of support equipment for proper working order
• Conduct pre-sale meeting with drivers identifying driver return routes, over flow areas, plan changes, etc.
• Conduct presale walk to ensure vehicles are in assigned lane as scheduled
• Identify and address missing vehicles, overflow areas, inoperable vehicles and other issues
• Maintain the run list indicating vehicles with no keys, late vehicle entries, and/or late number changes
• Respond to customer and dealer inquiries and concerns
• Coordinate and direct vehicle movement to maintain continuous flow of traffic to the block
• Oversee parking sold vehicles and re-parking non-sold vehicles
• Report theft, lot damage, or any safety concerns to management

Qualifications

Minimum

• High School Diploma/GED and 3 years' experience in a related field.
• OR the right candidate could also have a different combination, such as any level degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED in a related discipline.
• OR 5 years' experience in a related field
• Safe drivers needed; valid driver's license required.
• Ability to drive vehicles with standard and automatic transmission.
• Basic mechanical knowledge of identifying (i.e., flat tires, low gas, jump-starting vehicles.)

Preferred

• 6 months of auction or driving experience preferred.
• Knowledge of lot operations/lot layout preferred.
• Knowledge of LDM preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Required to stand, walk, reach, talk and hear, vision abilities required to include close, distance and color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
• Ability to lift 1-15 pounds.
• Must be able to walk long distances.

Work Environment

• Constant exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Moderate noise level (100% Outdoors)

Compensation

USD 15.10 - 22.69 per hour

Hourly pay rate is in the range of $15.10 - $22.69/hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program.

Benefits

• Employees are eligible to receive a minimum of sixteen hours of paid time off every month and seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, and parental leave.
