Job summary

Cox Automotive in Dallas seeks a Lot Operations Specialist I to drive and position vehicles in auction lanes and on-site lots. You will assist with vehicle movement, basic maintenance, and safety compliance while providing courteous service to dealers and customers.

The role requires a driver’s license, basic mechanical knowledge, and the ability to work a day shift in an outdoor environment. This on-site position offers hourly pay with potential incentives and benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• Generally, less than 2 years’ experience in a related field.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to drive standard and automatic transmission vehicles.
• Basic mechanical knowledge of identifying issues (flat tires, low gas, jump-starts).

Responsibilities

• Drive vehicles through Auction lanes on sale day safely.
• Move vehicles to designated areas on premises and to customer dealerships and businesses.
• Line up and park vehicles in the correct order as directed; locate lost vehicles.
• Assist with getting vehicles operating; inflate tires and jump-start if needed.
• Notify supervisor if vehicle is inoperative or out of gas.
• Assist customers and coworkers as needed.
• Demonstrate safety commitment and participate in Safety Excellence.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
• Overtime may be required as business needs dictate.

Compensation

Hourly base pay rate is $13.70 - $20.53/hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program.

Shift Availability:

Monday - Friday

7am - 4pm

11am - 8pm

Job Responsibilities:

• Drive vehicles through Auction lanes on sale day in a safe manner.
• Drive vehicles to and from designated areas on Auction premises and to and from customer dealerships and businesses, while observing Auction driving rules, and rules of the road and demonstrating courtesy and defensive driving principles.
• Line up and park vehicles in the correct order as directed by the supervisor or team leader, move vehicles as necessary, and locate "lost" vehicles.
• Assist with getting vehicles operating as needed. Inflate tires and jump-start vehicles using a battery box and air tank if necessary. Notify the supervisor when a vehicle is inoperative; notify the Service or Gas Truck Driver when the vehicle is out of gas.
• Assist customers (i.e., dealers, account representatives, rental agencies, etc.) and coworkers as needed.
• Visibly demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures and modeling the behaviors related to such.
• Actively participate in support of all safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
• May be required to work overtime as business needs dictate.

Qualifications

Minimum

• High School Diploma/GED
• Generally, less than 2 years’ experience in a related field
• Safe drivers needed; valid driver's license required.
• Ability to drive standard and automatic transmission vehicles.
• Basic mechanical knowledge of identifying (i.e., flat tires, low gas, jump-starting vehicles.)

Preferred

• 6 months of auction or driving experience preferred.
• Knowledge of lot operations/lot layout preferred.
• Knowledge of LDM preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Required to stand, walk, reach, talk and hear, vision abilities required to include close, distance and color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• Ability to stand for prolongedperiods of time.
• Ability to lift 1-15 pounds.
• Must be able to walk long distances.

Work Environment

• Constant exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Moderate noise level. (100% outdoors)

Benefits

Employees are eligible to receive a minimum of sixteen hours of paid time off every month and seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
