Job summary

Per Mar Security Services is seeking a dedicated Loss Prevention Officer for a full‑time on‑site role in the Champaign area. You will patrol, identify and apprehend shoplifters, and coordinate with local law enforcement as needed to ensure safety and deter theft.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, a background check, drug screening, and the ability to communicate clearly in English. Prior loss prevention or law enforcement experience is a plus but not required.

Qualifications

• Pre‑Employment Criminal Background Check and Drug Screening
• Must be able to obtain state required PERC prior to employment
• Ability to sit, stand, and walk for up to 3‑4 hours at a time
• Reliable transportation
• Ability to read, write and speak English proficiently
• Ability to communicate clearly and accurately through verbal and written means
• Ability to write legible, accurate and easily understood reports
• Must be assertive, yet controlled in dealing with confrontation
• Must be trustworthy and able to work under little or no direct supervision
• Attendance for scheduled shifts. Tardiness and absenteeism is not tolerated
• Previous Loss Prevention or Law Enforcement experience is a plus but not a requirement
• Criminal Justice or related studies a plus

Responsibilities

• Identify and Apprehend Shoplifters through floor patrol and the use of Closed Circuit TV Cameras
• Report Writing
• Interacting with local Law Enforcement as needed
• Provide Courtroom Testimony as required
