Job summary

The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) will access needs, plan strategies, and deliver evidence-based support to students with communicative disabilities across general and special education classrooms, specialized schools and community settings. Services include assessment and intervention in speech sound disorders, voice, language, pragmatics, fluency, literacy (phonology), AAC and dysphagia.

This is a full-time itinerant position in Bucks County requiring PA licensure and CCC-SLP; on-site work

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology is required.
• PA Department of Education certificate in Speech-Language Impaired PK-12 is required.
• ASHA CCC-SLP certification is required.
• PA license to practice Speech-Language Pathology required.
• CF candidates pursuing CCC-SLP/license may be considered for LTS positions.

Responsibilities

• Deliver evidence-based SLP services across general and special education settings.

Job description

Job Summary

The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) will access needs, plan strategies, and deliver evidence-based support to students with communicative disabilities across a variety of educational settings to include general and special education classrooms, specialized schools and community settings. Students may have single sound errors or multiple disabilities, and in working with students, the therapist must be adept at implementing and documenting varied strategies and deploying a variety of service delivery models to enhance communicative competence. Services provided by the SLP include assessment and intervention in speech sound disorders, voice, language, pragmatics, fluency, literacy (phonology), augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and dysphagia. Qualified applicants will possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply. This position is not eligible for remote work, telecommuting, or off-site work arrangements.

Supervisory Responsibility

Thisposition does not include direct supervisory responsibilities but may provide guidance, support, and collaboration with colleagues and team members as needed to support departmental and organizational goals.

Physical Demands

This position requires regular onsite presence and includes a combination of sedentary and active physical duties. Employeesare regularly required tosit, communicate effectively, use hands for fine motor tasks, and move throughout the work environment. Frequent activities may include walking, standing, reaching, bending, kneeling, crouching, and positioning at student level for extended periods of time. Depending on assignment and student needs, employees may also be required to assistwith transitions, mobility support, and instructional or daily living activities.

The employee must be able to lift up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 25 pounds occasionally.Certain assignments may requireassistingstudents with mobility or physical support needs that exceed 25 pounds, withappropriate trainingand support providedin accordance withprogram expectations and safety procedures.

This position requires active supervision of students across various educational settings and the ability to respond appropriately and efficiently tostudents, classroom, or safety needs. Responsibilities may include implementing approved crisis intervention techniques, supporting students with diverse educational, behavioral, communication, and personal care needs, andmaintaininga safe and supportive learning environment. Employees may work in environments with elevated noise levels and varying behavioral or emotional support needs.

Specific vision abilitiesrequiredfor this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Employees must also be able to hear and interpret sounds within the environment, including student communication, alarms, and other potential safety concerns.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, 193-day calendar position in itinerant locations throughout Bucks County. Hours are based on a 7.5-hour workday with specific hours dependent on the assignment in high school, middle or elementary school buildings or various community educational settings. Occasional evening and/or weekend work may berequiredas jobduties indemand.

Travel

Travel is required for this position and may include travel to Bucks IU locations, client sites, constituent school districts, community agencies, professional conferences, trainings, state and regional meetings, and other program-related activities. Travel requirements vary based on operational and programming needs.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Meet the designation ofthis position byshowing evidence of the following:

• Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology is required
• Pennsylvania Department of Education (Instructional or Specialist) certificate in Speech-Language Impaired PK-12 is required
• Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) is required*
• License to practice Speech Language Pathology issued by PA Bureau of Professional and Occupational Affairs is required*
• * Clinical Fellowship (CF) candidates who are eligible to begin or are currently completing the ASHA Clinical Fellowship will be considered for Long Term Substitute (LTS) positions in the Related Services program, while pursuing the CCC-SLP and license.
