Oxford Public Schools is seeking a Long Term Substitute School Nurse in Oxford, CT. The Nurse reports to the Building Administrator/Director of Health, Safety, and Security and begins February 2027. Responsibilities include health assessments, emergency care, health screenings, and collaboration with parents and staff.

CT-licensed RN with CPR certification is required. This is a substitute, part-time role based at Oxford Public Schools, with duties assigned by the central office.

Qualifications

• Must be an RN.

• Current CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Assess and evaluate health status of students to plan care.
• Interpret health findings to students, parents and staff.
• Recommend health-related program modifications to administration.
• Serve as liaison between parents, school and community on health matters.
• Perform health screenings and maintain health records.
• Observe students to detect health issues as needed.
• Render emergency care when injuries occur.
• Review and revise school nursing policies as needed.

Job Description:

Oxford Public Schools is seeking a skilled and dedicated School Nurse to join our team as a Long Term Substitute School Nurse beginning in FEBRUARY 2027

Key Responsibilities: (list not all inclusive)

• The ability to assess and evaluate the health status of each student in order to make a nursing diagnosis and establish a health plan.
• The ability to interpret the health status and medical findings to the student, parent and staff responsible for the child.
• The ability to recommend to the administration modifications in the educational program for a student due to changes in the student’s health or medical status.
• Excellent communication skills to serve as liaison between the parents, school and community in health matters.
• Knowledge of and experience in performing health screenings
• The ability to observe students, as needed, to detect health problems/issues.
• Excellent organizational skills needed to maintain cumulative health records on all students.
• The ability to assume responsibility to render emergency care to a student or staff member when injured or ill.
• The ability to review and recommend revisions in school nursing policies and procedures.
• Any other related duties as assigned by the administration

• Current certification in CPR
