Job summary

Billerica Public Schools in Billerica, MA seeks a Long-term Substitute Paraprofessional at Locke Middle School to support students with special needs in the inclusion setting and in a small group academic support environment.

The role is 32.5 hours per week (6.5 hours per day with a half unpaid lunch break). CORI & Fingerprint clearance are required. Bachelor degree is preferred; citizenship or work visa is required. Position runs until approximately December 23, 2026.

Responsibilities

• Prepare instructional materials and learning activities in the assigned classroom.
• Provide direct instruction to groups of students or individuals in or out of the classroom.
• Implement individualized and small group instruction and discussions
• Accommodate and modify materials to match students’ needs as prescribed by the teacher.
• Assist with the collection of student data.
• Consult with teachers on students’ progress and on strategies to be used.
• Supervise unstructured time such as recess and lunch duty
• Assist the teacher in clean-up
• Assist with other tasks students cannot perform independently
• Escort children to and from vehicles during drop-off or pick-up as assigned
• Assist students in using technology
• Assist substitutes in following lesson plans when teacher is absent
• Ability to lift 30lbs independently
• Willingness to participate in toileting activities
• Provide other related duties that may be assigned by the principal or teacher

Job Description

This is a long-term substitute position only and the duration is until approximately December 23, 2026 and pays $15 hr.

This position is 32.5 hours per week (6.5 hours per day including a 1/2 unpaid lunch break).

The paraprofessional will support special education students in the regular education inclusion setting. In addition, the paraprofessional will support students in a small group academic support setting.

Responsibilities

• Accommodating and modifying materials to match students’ needs as prescribed by the teacher.

• Supervise unstructured time such as recess and/or lunch duty unless directed otherwise.
• Assist the teacher in clean-up.
• Assists with any other tasks students are not able to perform for themselves
• Depending on assignment, provide assistance in escorting children to and from vehicles during drop-off or pick-up.
• Assist students in using technology.
• Assist substitutes in following lesson plans when classroom teacher is absent
• Ability to lift 30lbs. independently
• Willingness to participate in toileting activities is required.
