Job summary

Mentor Public Schools seeks a Long Term Substitute Intervention Specialist for the Autism Unit. The position runs January 2027 through May 2027 with a daily rate of $150 for 1–20 days and $175 for 21–60 days, increasing to the Teacher Salary Schedule thereafter.

Ohio licensure in Intervention Specialist is required; a Moderate/Intensive K-12 license is preferred. Applicants must have valid certification recognized by the Ohio Department of Education and demonstrate the ability to adapt teaching

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of learning processes and autism.
• Proficiency in teaching and adapting instructional techniques for students with autism.

Rate: $150per day (1-20 days) $175(21-60 days) Teacher Salary Schedule (61st day forward)
Licensure: K-12 Intervention SpecialistLicense; Preferred: Moderate/Intensive K-12 License

CARES is a state of the art educational, training and resource facility for children and young adults with autism, their families and the professionals entrusted with their care. We serve students ages 5-22.

• Must have appropriate, valid certification or license to teach the assigned content area as recognized by the Ohio Department of Education.
• Thorough knowledge, understanding, and appreciation for the learning process and the nature of working with children with autism.
• Proficiency in teaching, i.e., demonstrate ability to adapt his/her knowledge of educational methodology and variety of instructional techniques for the benefit of students in the learning environment. Scholarly competence in the structure and content of the subject area for which (s)he is responsible.
• Ability to communicate with students and parents the manner in which the curriculum relates to them.
• Demonstrate the ability to work and interact with other staff members, students, and administration in a manner that is cooperative and productive.
