Job summary

Avon Public Schools is seeking a Long Term Substitute Elementary School Art Teacher to provide high-quality Art instruction at Avon Pine Grove School. The position requires CT PK-12 Art certification (042) and a degree in Fine Arts or Education with art as the concentration.

The teacher will develop engaging lessons, assess student progress, and adapt instruction for students with IEPs/504 plans. This is a fixed-term role running from August 24, 2026, to early October 2026, under the Avon Board

Qualifications

• Must possess or be eligible for Connecticut State Department of Education certification for PK-12 Art (042).
• Degree from an accredited college or university in Fine Arts, or Education with art as the concentration.

Responsibilities

• Prepare instructional resources and assessments that support the delivery of Avon Public Schools' Art curriculum.
• Develop and implement lesson plans, unit plans, and educational projects to ensure students’ academic development.
• Provide differentiated instructional strategies and assessment and/or modify the curriculum to meet learning needs of students with IEPs and 504 plans.
• Provide support to all learners who require additional help or guidance with academic problems and concepts.
• Other responsibilities as defined by the building principal or designee.

Compensation:In accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between the association and the Board of Education.

Work Year: Position begins August 24, 2026, and ends on or about October 2, 2026. Salary and benefits are in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between the association and the Board of Education.
