Job summary

New Haven Elementary School is seeking a dedicated Long Term Elementary Substitute for STEM to join our team on a full-time basis. This position is designed for an individual who is passionate about fostering a love for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics among elementary students.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging STEM lessons, maintaining a positive learning environment, and supporting the academic and social development of students.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, STEM-related field, or related discipline; teaching certification preferred.
• Experience working with elementary students, preferably in a STEM-related setting.
• Strong understanding of STEM concepts and ability to convey them engagingly.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students, parents, and colleagues.
• Ability to adapt teaching methods and materials to accommodate different learning styles.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality STEM instruction to students in grades K-5, following the established curriculum and adapting lessons as necessary to meet diverse needs.
• Create a stimulating and safe classroom environment that encourages curiosity and collaboration.
• Develop and implement hands-on activities and projects that promote critical thinking and creativity in STEM.
• Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support growth.
• Collaborate with other educators and staff to integrate STEM concepts across the curriculum and participate in school-wide initiatives.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to foster a supportive and inclusive school community.
• Manage classroom behavior and ensure a respectful and positive atmosphere conducive to learning.
• Attend faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and school events as required.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and other necessary documentation.
