Job summary

KEYS Academy, supported by Health Connect America, is seeking a Long-Term Substitute Teacher to deliver engaging instruction and support students’ academic, behavioral, communication, and social-emotional development. You will implement IEPs, Virginia SOLs, the KEYS Curriculum, and Social Thinking Program within a safe, structured learning environment, collaborating with licensed teachers and staff.

The successful candidate will join a trauma-informed, student-centered team dedicated to safety,

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Paraprofessional examination within one year of hire.
• Competency-based training in universal precautions, de-escalation and physical restraint crisis intervention.
• Competency-based training in medication administration, confidentiality, and ethics.
• Current CPR/First Aid certification.
• Training for APEX, Exact Path, and LEXIA online learning programs.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver instruction aligned with Virginia SOLs and the KEYS curriculum.
• Differentiate instruction to support diverse student needs and IEP goals.
• Establish routines and behavior plans to promote safety and dignity.
• Integrate KEYS and Social Thinking Curricula into daily instruction.
• Monitor and report student progress and IEP goal achievement.
• Assist with IEP development, meetings, and reporting timelines.
• Collaborate with teachers, staff, and parents to support student success.
• Supervise students during activities and ensure proper safety.
• Maintain professional standards and comply with laws and school policies.
