Job summary

KEYS Academy, supported by Health Connect America, is seeking a Long-Term Substitute Teacher in Virginia to deliver instruction aligned with SOLs and the KEYS Curriculum. You will work with licensed teachers and staff to implement IEP goals and support students' academic and social development in a structured, safe environment.

You will differentiate instruction, manage routines, monitor progress, and participate in IEP meetings, ensuring professional standards and confidentiality are maintained.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Successful completion of the Paraprofessional examination within one year of hire.
• Competency-based training in universal precautions, de-escalation and crisis intervention.
• Competency-based training in medication administration, confidentiality, and ethics.
• Current CPR/First Aid certification.
• Training in APEX, Exact Path and LEXIA required.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver instruction aligned with Virginia SOLs and individual student needs.
• Differentiate instruction to promote engagement, communication and social skills.
• Establish routines, expectations, and behavior plans to ensure safety and dignity.
• Integrate KEYS and Social Thinking Curricula into daily lessons.
• Monitor student progress, document IEP goals, and adjust strategies with mentors.
• Assist with IEP development and participate in meetings and progress reporting.
• Collaborate with teachers, paraprofessionals, administrators, and families to support student success.
• Provide supervision during classroom activities, field trips, and outings.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with laws, policies, and safety procedures.
