Capitol Region Education Council (CREC) seeks a Long-Term Substitute Special Education Teacher for The Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts High School in Hartford, CT. The assignment runs from September 21, 2026, to January 2, 2027, with possible extension through June 2027.

The role involves collaborating with educators to implement IEPs, assessing students, and supporting diverse learners in high school core content areas. Requires CT certification and a BA in Education.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degrees in Education required.
• Must meet Connecticut certification requirements, including assessments.

Responsibilities

• Conduct assessments, testing, and diagnostic examinations to identify learning issues and recommend actions to maximize learning.
• Assist in developing Individual Education Programs (IEPs) for students.
• Collaborate with general education teachers to design and implement programs addressing individualized needs.
• Coordinate with district representatives and outside agencies as needed.
• Maintain data and records for student information and decision-making.
• Provide counseling and act as liaison between home and school.
• Encourage parental involvement and effective communication with students and parents.
• Maintain inventory and use appropriate instructional resources.
