Job summary

ServingSchools is seeking a Registered School Nurse for a long-term substitute role at Lyman Elementary School in RSU 57. The nurse will deliver comprehensive health services to students and staff, manage health plans, and coordinate with teachers, families, and district health staff.

The position requires ME RN licensure, a BS degree, valid school nurse certification, fingerprinting, and at least two years of pediatric or school health experience, plus current BLS.

Qualifications

• Must hold a current license in the State of Maine as a Registered Professional Nurse
• Bachelor of Science degree (four year) from an accredited institution
• Valid provision or professional state certificate to serve as a school nurse
• Completed fingerprinting in accordance with school requirements
• Minimum of two years nursing experience in pediatrics, community health or as a school nurse
• Holds current BLS certification

Responsibilities

• Works as a member of the district health services team within scope of individual's training
• Provides health assessments, develops and implements health plans for students
• Provides care for illness and injury to students in accordance with written protocols
• Educates staff regarding emergency measures required until medical help is available
• Implements the school medication policy and procedure
• Serves as a health liaison between school, home and the community
• Prepares the budget for school health supplies and first aid kits
