Job summary

ServingSchools is seeking a Long-Term Substitute Custodian at Wells High School to start as soon as possible. The role focuses on keeping buildings safe, clean, and welcoming for students and staff.

The candidate should have CHRC certification, a high school diploma, a valid driver's license, and strong organizational skills. Duties include opening/closing, HVAC control, safety checks, basic repairs, and grounds maintenance.

Qualifications

• CHRC certification is required.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of chemicals, asbestos management, pesticides, indoor air quality and safety.

Responsibilities

• Open and close the building each school day and ensure doors and windows are secured; lights off except those needed for safety.
• Regulate heating, ventilation and air conditioning for seasonal comfort and energy efficiency.
• Raise the United States flag on school days and lower it when appropriate.
• Check exit doors and panic hardware during occupancy hours.
• Maintain positive relations with students, staff and community.
• Notify Head Custodian of maintenance or custodial problems promptly.
• Keep buildings, sidewalks and grounds tidy and in good repair.
• Sweep or vacuum classrooms and dust furniture daily.
• Clean corridors after school and as needed during the day.
• Disinfect toilets, floors and fixtures daily as directed.
• Wash windows inside and out as needed.
• Keep floors clean and well-preserved.
• Clean chalkboards weekly and perform minor building repairs as capable.
