Job summary

Secaucus Board of Education seeks a qualified Special Education Mathematics Teacher for a long-term replacement at the middle school level in Secaucus, NJ. The position runs Oct 8, 2026 through Feb 16, 2027 and reports to the Principal.

The teacher will plan and deliver instruction, evaluate progress, and communicate with parents while collaborating with staff to support students with disabilities and varied learning needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year accredited college/university.
  • Possession of a valid certificate as a Teacher of the Handicapped or Students with Disabilities in the State of New Jersey.
  • New Jersey Department of Education Teacher of Mathematics or Middle School with Subject matter Specialization in Math 5-8 Standard Certificate or CEAS/CE.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position.

Responsibilities

  • Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
  • Evaluates student progress on a regular basis and prepares progress reports.
  • Instruct students in citizenship, basic communication skills, and other general elements of the course of study common to all teachers, as specified in state law and district regulations.
  • Provides individual, small, and/or large group instruction to adapt the curriculum to students with varying intellectual and special abilities.
  • Instructs students in proper care and use of textbooks, equipment, and materials.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior for an orderly and productive environment.
  • Develop instructional plans and organize class time to provide a balanced program of instruction.
  • Supervises out-of-classroom activities for students during the assigned working day.
  • Plans and coordinates the work of aides, teacher assistants, and other paraprofessionals.
  • Identifies students’ needs and cooperates with other professional staff in assessment and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
  • Communicates with parents and staff on the student’s progress and development.
  • Maintains basic attendance accounting and business service as required.
  • Develops and participates in sponsorship of student activities and faculty committees.
  • Acts as a resource person on an interdepartmental level to relate subject areas.

Salary and Employment

Salary Range: Current starting salary range $62,600 -$70,110 as per the 2023-2026 SEA Contract

Employment Period: October 8, 2026 - February 16, 2027
