Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in Missouri's Springfield region seeks a Materials Handler to manage warehousing, distribution and receiving of supplies and equipment.

This role may involve conveying or retrieving items to/from off-site locations such as outpatient clinics and cemeteries, and driving a vehicle up to 4500 pounds GVWR. The position requires lifting and handling of heavy items and compliance with safety procedures.

Qualifications

  • Experience in warehouse operations and material handling is required.
  • Ability to follow instructions and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Receives, stores and ships bin and bulk supplies, materials and equipment.
  • Prepares shipping and inventory documents for manual or automated inventory systems.
  • Selects specific storage locations within framework of general warehousing plan.
  • Rotates stock and checks for outdated materials and maintains safeguards and temperature controls.
  • Loads, unloads shipments from trucks and other conveyances; handles hazardous materials with proper precautions.
  • Participates in conducting inventory and communicates discrepancies.
  • Ensures products and shelving are labeled with identification numbers.
  • Performs off-site deliveries in motor vehicles under 4500 pounds gross weight.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Work Schedule: Full-time - Monday - Friday 08:00 am - 4:30 pm (subject to agency needs)
