Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. is seeking an Operations Intern for Summer 2027 in Sumner, WA.

This part-time role (20-25 hours/week) supports transportation/logistics services under close supervision, gaining exposure to fundamental operations and planning tasks. The intern will engage in daily activities such as freight planning, DOT compliance, driver payroll, and logistics analysis, while learning industry trends and driver retention strategies.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in good standing.
• Able to work 20–25 hours per week during the school semester.

Responsibilities

• Gain exposure and understanding of basic transportation management principles.
• Participate in daily operational tasks including planning of freight, asset utilization, safety management, DOT compliance, driver payroll, CVP, logistics management/analysis, driver supervision, P&L management, maintenance coordination.
• Understand industry trends and company initiatives related to driver retention.
• Perform account-specific duties as required by the customer and other related tasks.
