Job dimensions |
Responsible for managing the Calumet City Warehouse, Distribution, and Logistics operations in a safe and efficient manner to ensure timely delivery of product in the proper container at the correct time/date. |
Activities |
LOGISTICS and OPERATIONS (70%): - Warehouse Management
- Manage daily warehouse activities, including receiving, storing, organizing and shipping of material and finished goods
- Manage all Tank Wagon, Packaged Goods and sample shipments in coordination with the Business and Corporate support teams
- Ensure packaging and priority lists are prepared for rush & short lead-time orders
- Support Logistics Coordinator as needed to schedule inbound and outbound shipments
- Support outside warehouses as needed
- Inventory Management
- Develop and implement effective warehouse strategies and processes to ensure efficient operation and timely order fulfillment
- Monitor inventory levels for raw materials and collaborate with procurement to ensure optimal stock levels are maintained
- Ensure raw material availability while minimizing demurrage and drayage cost
- Participate in cycle counts for the plant warehouse and storage locations both internal and external to site
- Ensure maintenance of storage areas and optimize space usage for maximum efficiency
- Compliance to all regulations and company policy
- Ensure compliance with all regulations for shipping/receiving hazardous materials (e.g. DOT, ICC, IMDG)
- Provide training related to all shipping modes, as well as mandatory training for all personnel identified as hazmat employees
- Interface with regulatory agencies to provide responses and action plans to address transportation and shipping incidents
- Coordinate transportation regulatory audits with outside agencies (e.g. FRA, DOT)
- Point of contact for railroad operations and switching contractors to ensure efficient and safe movement of railcars pursuant to site contract requirements
- Work with HES leaders to coordinate emergency response training based on REACTS
- Support ISO 9001, RC 14001, and other Corporate Management Systems
- Other duties as required to support plant operations
SUPERVISION (30%): - Directly supervises Logistics personnel in the execution of warehouse and transportation related activities
- Provide guidance and direction in a way that motivates the workforce to achieve high productivity rates and achieve target on key performance metrics
- Ensure team completes all training on time, attends mandatory meetings, and actively participates in the site HES program
- Ensures plant rules are explained to outside carriers and drivers, and promptly investigate any issues
