PACKGENE BIOTECH INC is seeking a Logistics Supervisor at our Houston Headquarters Facility. You will lead a team focused on shipping, materials management, and warehouse operations within a cGMP context.

You will also support procurement and production planning, maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and accuracy in ERP-based inventory control. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in a cGMP environment (biologics logistics preferred).
  • GMP warehouse experience is required.
  • Understanding of material planning, procurement, and shipping.
  • Experience with ERP implementation is a plus.
  • Strong communication and leadership capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead logistics team to ensure daily tasks and schedules are met.
  • Hire, coach, and develop staff; promote safety and quality.
  • Oversee shipping, material management, and warehouse tasks.
  • Support procurement and production planning as needed.
  • Maintain accurate ERP inventory records and reports.
  • Collaborate with QC/QA, PAD, MFG, Finance and others.
  • Drive area/process improvements and CAPAs.

Description

Job Title: Logistics Supervisor

Location: Houston Headquarters Facility

Department: Manufacturing

Reports To: Manufacturing, Associate Director

FLSA Status: Full Time/Exempt

Job purpose

The Logistics Supervisor will be responsible for leading a team of specialists focused on shipping, materials management, and warehouse operations. The Supervisor will ensure all aspects of the Logistics department operate successfully.

Additionally, the Logistics Supervisor may be involved in supporting procurement and production planning.

The Logistics Supervisor will be expected to maintain a constant attention to detail, an eye for quality, and look for ways to improve the Logistics systems and drive the culture of the team in a positive direction.

Duties and responsibilities
  • Supervise Logistics team to ensure daily tasks are completed successfully and the production and shipping schedules are maintained.
  • Hire, coach, develop, and train staff while ensuring a culture of safety and quality.
  • Perform Logistics tasks (shipping, material management, and warehouse management) on a global scale.
  • Learn procurement and materials planning functions and assist in these activities if needed.
  • Maintain accurate inventory in the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
  • Oversee shipping and receiving at the PackGene Houston site, ensuring packages are received/delivered on time.
  • Communicate with shipping carriers and customs agents regarding documentation needs and shipping delays.
  • Maintain and improve warehouse area organization.
  • Author/Revise Logistics documents including Policies, SOPs, OJTs, and WIs.
  • Support and drive improvements in area and process.
  • Write deviations & perform deviation investigations.
  • Own, and drive to completion, change controls and CAPAs.
  • Collaborate closely with other team members such as QC, QA, PAD, MFG, Finance, and external/internal stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain high level of accountability, integrity, teamwork, and communication.
  • Build strong & cohesive working relationships with colleagues across the company to accomplish company goals.
Requirements
Skills and Qualifications
  • H.S. required, A.S. preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in a cGMP environment (biologics manufacturing or logistics experience preferred).
  • Prior experience working in a GMP warehouse is required.
  • Basic understanding of material planning, procurement, and shipping activities.
  • Experience with ERP system implementation is a plus.
  • Experience with GMP facility startup and hands on biotech manufacturing are a plus.
  • Proficient in MS Office suite.
  • Basic understanding of Lean Six Sigma and 6S.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excited to learn new things and passionate about helping others.
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining professionalism.
  • Ability to analyze, identify and solve problems proactively.

  • Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
  • Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and making fine discriminations in sound.
  • Kneeling: Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
  • Lifting: Raising objects of 50lbs from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.
  • Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
  • Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.

  • Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
