Job summary

Marathon Petroleum is seeking an experienced engineer to lead projects in Anacortes, WA. You will manage projects across development, design, construction, and start-up while maintaining safety, cost, and schedule targets.

Collaboration with Maintenance, Construction, and Turnaround teams is essential to support planning and execution. Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and at least 2 years of industry experience.

  • Two (2) years or more of industry experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Applies project management skills across all phases: development, justification, design, construction, and start-up.
  • Manages multiple projects/programs safely, efficiently, and within budget; develops strategies to meet schedules and mitigate delays.
  • Ensures compliance with Management of Change (MOC), Process Safety Information (PSI), and mechanical integrity documentation. Coordinates with external engineering consultants and designers to complete projects and studies cost-effectively.
  • Develops scope, cost estimates, and schedules for capital and expense projects; prepares Decision Support Packages (DSPs) and presents to leadership.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders including Maintenance, Construction, and Turnaround teams to support planning and execution. Coordinates with external consultants and internal teams to support execution.
  • Participates in HAZOP reviews and incident investigations; applies safety and environmental standards to designs.
  • Applies engineering codes and specifications; ensures designs meet safety, environmental, and permitting standards.
  • Promotes safety awareness and takes corrective action when unsafe practices or conditions are observed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required. Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering degree preferred.
  • Two (2) years or more of industry experience required.
