Job summary

Kelly Services is seeking a Logistics Specialist – Expeditor to join our Production Control team for a 90+ day assignment. This role focuses on keeping production moving by tracking parts, coordinating with Program Management and Production Control, and expediting priority items on the shop floor.

The ideal candidate has at least 2 years in a manufacturing environment, strong organizational and communication skills, and proficient Excel/Word usage to maintain accurate status and schedules.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Track the hourly movement and status of production parts that are past due or within a two-week window of their scheduled ship date.
  • Follow up continuously with production personnel to ensure parts are progressing according to schedule.
  • Physically move and transport parts through different areas of the manufacturing shop as needed.
  • Identify priority parts and communicate their status to Production Control, supervisors, operators, and Program Management.
  • Attend production meetings and provide accurate status updates on past-due and high-priority production parts.
  • Track and report progress on special production schedules provided to customers.
  • Communicate schedule risks, delays, and changes to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Obtain Estimated Completion Dates (ECDs) from shop and administrative personnel.
  • Follow up with responsible personnel and hold them accountable for completing assigned actions on schedule.
  • Maintain accurate information using Excel spreadsheets, printed pick lists, and production tracking systems.
  • Help identify bottlenecks and issues that could impact on-time delivery.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Position Overview

Kelly Services is seeking aLogistics Specialist – Expeditorto join our Production Control team for a 90+ day assignment. This is a highly active, shop-floor-focused position responsible for helping keep production moving and ensuring parts are completed and delivered on schedule.

The Expeditor serves as a key communication link betweenProgram Management, Production Control, supervisors, and production operators. This individual will spend approximately90% of their time moving throughout the manufacturing shop, physically transporting parts between work areas, checking production status, identifying priority and past-due parts, and communicating updates to the Production Control team.

The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, comfortable working in a manufacturing environment, and able to balance computer-based tracking with hands-on activity on the production floor.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This is ahands-on, physically active manufacturing-floor position. The successful candidate should be comfortable spending most of the workday walking throughout the facility, communicating with production personnel, and moving parts between work areas.

The role may require:

  • Standing and/or walking for8–12 or more hours per day, depending on role, shift, and overtime.
  • Lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, and handling materials.
  • Handling objects weighing up to50 pounds.
  • Working indoors in areas that may not be temperature-controlled.
  • Exposure to loud sounds and distracting noise levels.
  • Working around manufacturing equipment and other workplace hazards.
  • Potential exposure to contaminants.
  • Working in shared production and office spaces.
  • Periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided based on the employee’s position and workplace exposure. Appropriate PPE is required when working on the production floor.

Typical PPE may include safety glasses, safety goggles, ear plugs or ear muffs, gloves, face shields, protective aprons, and respiratory protection when required.
