The Emergency Services Logistics Specialist 1 supports the mission of the Department of Emergency Services to provide safety and security for Delaware County citizens. This entry-level position focuses on skill development and growth, providing support for the maintenance, movement, and deployment of department equipment and fleet. Responsibilities include assisting with planned events and emergent incident activities, maintaining inventory, operating vehicles and equipment, and performing minor repairs. Work includes nights and weekends as needed.
Support planned events and emergent incident activities through the movement of materials and equipment.
Perform maintenance activities and minor repairs on logistics equipment including generators, lighting, communication, and emergency equipment.
Conduct routine inspections of equipment and materials before, during, and after incidents.
Operate vehicles, tow trailers, and transport equipment and materials between county facilities and field locations.
Assist with refueling activities and apply spill control measures as needed.
Clean and restore field equipment to a deployable condition.
Assist with setup, maintenance, and teardown of field operations equipment such as tents, containers, expanding containers, MOBU units, and trailers.
Complete training and certification on material handling equipment including pallet jacks, forklifts, dock ramps, and hydraulic lifts.
Load, secure, and unload pallets using safe handling techniques.
Adhere to safe cargo standards and understand Federal Motor Carrier Administration regulations for motor transport.
Perform other duties as assigned.
High School Diploma/GED
Successful completion of a Fire I NFPA1001 Standard compliant certification program or PAEMT Certification
6 months of experience providing Emergency Response
6 months of training or experience with fleet maintenance or mechanical knowledge
Familiarity with basic computer programs
