Universal Load Banks (ULB) is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Logistics Specialist to manage domestic and international shipments of our engineered equipment. This role is responsible for coordinating transportation by mainly truck, but occasionally air freight, and ocean cargo while ensuring shipments are delivered accurately, on time, and in compliance with customer, carrier, and international trade requirements.
The ideal candidate is proactive, communicates effectively with freight carriers and customers, and excels at managing documentation and multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and schedule domestic and international shipments via:
- Less-than-Truckload (LTL)
- Full Truckload (FTL)
- Ocean Freight (Container and Breakbulk)
- Contact freight carriers and logistics providers to obtain quotes, schedule pickups, and ensure timely deliveries.
- Prepare and maintain all shipping documentation, including:
- Bills of Lading (BOL)
- Packing Lists
- Certificates of Origin
- Customs paperwork
- ISO-required shipping and quality documentation
- Ensure compliance with international shipping regulations, customs requirements, and export procedures.
- Coordinate shipments with production, purchasing, engineering, and project management teams to meet customer delivery schedules.
- Track shipments from pickup through final delivery and proactively resolve transportation issues or delays.Communicate shipment status with internal teams and customers.
- Maintain accurate shipping records and documentation in accordance with ISO quality standards.
- Verify freight invoices and assist with freight cost tracking.
- Identify opportunities to improve shipping efficiency and reduce transportation costs.
- Maintain relationships with freight carriers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers.
- Assist with inventory movement and special logistics projects as required.
Qualifications
Required
- Associate's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 2+ years of logistics, shipping, or transportation coordination experience.
- Experience coordinating both domestic and international shipments.
- Knowledge of LTL, truckload, air freight, and ocean freight shipping.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
Preferred
- Experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with customs documentation and international trade requirements.
- Experience working within an ISO 9001 quality management system.
- Knowledge of ERP/MRP software.
- Understanding of Incoterms and international shipping practices.
- Experience working with freight brokers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers.
