The Logistics Specialist shall have a general knowledge of and follow the standing operating procedures for the pharmacy. This role ensures all shipments comply with accreditation standards, local, regional and national regulations, and maintains the integrity and safety of medications during transit.

The Logistics Specialist shall have a general knowledge of and follow the standing operating procedures for the pharmacy. This role ensures all shipments comply with accreditation standards, local, regional and national regulations, and maintains the integrity and safety of medications during transit.
Responsibilities of the Logistics Specialist include the following:
- Prepares, packages and dispatches medications and supplies. Uses appropriate packaging materials and labels packages correctly, including all necessary information such as patient details, medication instructions and handling requirements to facilitate accurate and timely delivery. Ensures all shipments are properly documented and tracked, maintaining the integrity and safety of medications during transit. Demonstrates an informed knowledge regarding currently delivery software and it’s applications. Coordination with other departments in this process is expected.
- Follows accreditation standards to ensure patient safety and quality delivery. Maintains appropriate sanitation, light and temperature conditions during shipping. Completes and files all necessary paperwork, including manifests, daily delivery logs, pick-up and delivery forms, patient signature capture, and vehicle maintenance logs.
- Provision of excellent customer service. Address and resolve any shipping-related issues or inquiries from patients or healthcare providers, greeting clients in a friendly and professional manner. In addition, patient inquiries may require “triage” to the appropriate personnel.
- Performs daily routine vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness. Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of vehicle. Follows a preventative maintenance schedule and report any vehicle issues or maintenance needs to the appropriate personnel.
- Works with the Logistics Manager to facilitate receiving of medications, supplies, and equipment including their distribution to the appropriate departments and/or supply areas ensuring they are stored and inventoried properly.
- Team player. Positive coordination is expected with other team members across multiple departments.
- Other projects, activities, or responsibilities assigned at the discretion of the supervisor or their designee.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum two years delivery or customer service experience is preferred.
- Valid Tennessee driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
- Computer and/or tablet skills that include word processing, and efficient use of the internet and e-mail.
- Excellent communications and mathematical skills.
Physical Requirements

- The employee is regularly required to possibly stand and/or sit for long periods of time, drive, walk, as well as talk and hear.
- Good hand-eye coordination and the ability to lift up to at least 75 pounds.
