Job summary

Wayfair is seeking a Senior Specialist of Inventory & Logistics at our Denver operations to drive operational excellence in inventory accuracy and store logistics. You will lead initiatives to improve product availability, reduce discrepancies, and streamline inbound/outbound shipments, reporting to the Department Manager and using data-driven insights to optimize cross-functional workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate Reliability & Professionalism: Maintain strong attendance and clear communication to meet business needs.
  • Lead Inventory Control & Accuracy: Own the education and accuracy maintenance of our Cycle Count Program and other inventory control efforts to keep stock levels accurate, minimize shrinkage, and optimize inventory flow.
  • Optimize Logistics & Supply Chain Operations: Manage inbound and outbound shipments with accuracy.
  • Drive Operational Excellence & Compliance: Monitor compliance with inventory and logistics policies, conduct regular audits, and take course correcting actions to improve and uphold our high operational standards.
  • Mentor & Develop Logistics Team Members: Train and support Logistics & Inventory Specialists by sharing best practices, troubleshooting challenges, and promoting a high-performance culture.
  • Analyze Performance & Drive Data-Driven Decisions: Track KPIs related to inventory, shipping, and logistics.
  • Ensure Cross-Functional Alignment: Collaborate with store leadership, merchandising, and operations teams to integrate logistics with broader business goals.
  • Solve Problems & Lead Continuous Improvement: Identify bottlenecks and implement innovative solutions to boost workflow, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Adapt to Rapid Change & Evolving Business Needs: Stay agile in a fast-paced environment, managing shifting priorities and proactively addressing challenges.

$24.00 per hour

The hourly rate is a fixed entry rate for this position and applies to all new hires. While our system may display a pay range, this role’s starting rate is non-negotiable. Future pay increases are determined by performance, growth, and time in role, in accordance with our compensation policy.

Overview

As a Senior Specialist of Inventory & Logistics, you’ll play a crucial role in driving operational excellence and ensuring seamless inventory and supply chain processes within Wayfair’s Physical Retail store in Wilmette. Reporting to the Department Manager, you’ll lead key initiatives that optimize inventory accuracy, streamline logistics operations, and enhance overall store efficiency. Using data-driven insights and strong problem-solving skills, you’ll implement best practices to improve product availability, reduce discrepancies, and support a flawless customer shopping experience.

What Does a Sr. Specialist of Inventory & Logistics Do?
  • Demonstrate Reliability & Professionalism: Maintain strong attendance and clear communication to meet business needs. Proactively help address operational challenges to ensure consistent store coverage.
  • Lead Inventory Control & Accuracy: Own the education and accuracy maintenance of our Cycle Count Program and other inventory control efforts to keep stock levels accurate, minimize shrinkage, and optimize inventory flow. You will share responsibility in validating associate training and progress to goal.
  • Optimize Logistics & Supply Chain Operations: Manage inbound and outbound shipments with accuracy. Evaluate and improve logistics workflows to increase efficiency, lower costs, and speed up fulfillment. Implement best practices for shipment processing and stock replenishment.
  • Drive Operational Excellence & Compliance: Monitor compliance with inventory and logistics policies, conduct regular audits, and take course correcting actions in order to improve and uphold our high operational standards.
  • Mentor & Develop Logistics Team Members: Train and support Logistics & Inventory Specialists by sharing best practices, troubleshooting challenges, and promoting a high-performance culture. You will share responsibility in validating associate training and progress to goal.

You’ll Thrive In This Role If You Have
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field preferred, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience: 3 to 5 years in inventory control, logistics, or supply chain operations, ideally in retail. Proven experience leading projects, mentoring teams, and improving operations.
  • Inventory & Logistics Expertise: Deep knowledge of inventory management, logistics workflows, and stock accuracy best practices. Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems and inventory tracking tech is a plus.
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Strong ability to analyze data, spot trends, and develop practical solutions for efficiency, accuracy, and cost control.
  • Leadership & Collaboration: Experience mentoring and developing team members while partnering across store leadership, merchandising, and operations.
  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled with Microsoft Office (especially Excel) or Google Suite (especially Sheets). Experience with inventory management, order management, and scan technology preferred.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, kneel, crouch, and perform repetitive motions frequently. Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Availability: Open availability including nights, weekends, and holidays is required.

  • Physical Activity: Frequent standing, walking, and reaching with hands and arms; occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, and crawling.
  • Mobility & Movement: Frequent stooping, kneeling, and crouching throughout the day.
