J.B. Hunt is offering an Operations Internship in Des Moines, IA for May 2027.

The role provides exposure to transportation management principles and hands-on participation in daily operational tasks, including freight planning, asset utilization, safety, and DOT compliance. Ideal candidates are enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program, available 20–25 hours weekly, and proficient in Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in good standing at an accredited college, university or community college.
• Must be able to work 20–25 hours per week during the school semester.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
• Junior or Senior level preferred.

Responsibilities

• Gain exposure to basic transportation management principles.
• Participate in daily operational tasks including planning of freight and asset utilization.
• Assist with safety programs, DOT compliance, and driver payroll processes.
• Support logistics management/analysis and driver supervision activities.
• Assist with profit-and-loss monitoring and maintenance coordination.
