Job summary

Johns Manville in Littleton, Colorado is seeking an Associate Logistics Operations Associate to manage carrier selection and service levels across multiple business units. You will use the TMS to optimize cost and service, coordinate with shipping personnel, and ensure uninterrupted transportation flow to North American markets.

The role requires knowledge of TMS, strong communication, and the ability to work with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred with 0–2 years experience; 4+ years in lieu of degree.
  • Knowledge of transportation management systems (TMS) preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Basic knowledge of SAP or ERP systems.
  • Minimal travel required (0–5 days per year).

Responsibilities

  • Utilize the corporate TMS for carrier selection on outbound and inbound shipments from multiple plant locations.
  • Implement the day-to-day transportation plan.
  • Implement and maintain company policy and standard operating procedures.
  • Monitor service level requirements and equipment commitments with motor carriers.
  • Prepare daily/weekly/monthly reports.
  • Identify cost reduction opportunities within assigned planning markets.
  • Support procurement team data for carrier services negotiations.
  • Perform activities under direct supervision.

Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors. In addition, this position is eligible for an incentive bonus.The Associate Logistics Operations Associate is responsible for carrier selection and service levels across multiple business units. The Specialist's specific tasks include: the use of the corporate Transportation Management System (TMS) for outbound and inbound carrier selection based on cost, service, and level of commitment; determine equipment and service level requirements for multiple plant locations across business units and manage carrier selection and performance to meet cost and service expectations; maintain continuous contact and provide assistance to customer service groups, sales, plant purchasing, and plant shipping personnel; and secure and coordinate uninterrupted transportation services and materials flow to and from North American markets.Responsibilities:Utilize the corporate TMS for carrier selection on outbound and inbound shipments from multiple plant locations across all business unitsImplement the day-to-day transportation planImplement and maintain company policy and standard operating proceduresMonitor service level requirements and equipment commitments with motor carriersMonitor carrier service level performance and meet internal reporting requirementsReport cost reduction opportunities within assigned planning marketsDetermine optimal mode between truckload, LTL and intermodal based on delivery requirementsMaintain good and ethical relationships with carrier/association contactsPrepare daily/weekly/monthly reportsAs directed, study possible savings and service improvements through use of new and/or improved carrier equipment, methods, and proceduresUpon request from the procurement team, prepare any data for the negotiation of carrier services and equipment within assigned planning marketsResponsible for performing specific activities under direct supervisionWork is outlined in detail by othersLimited discretion within well established guidelines to include order of work tasksUses existing procedures to solve routine or standard problemsMay be required to perform other related duties as assignedRequirements:Minimum of 0 to 2 years of work experienceBachelor's degree preferred with o to 2 years of experience; 4 + years of work experience in lieu of degreeWorking knowledge and experience in motor carrier transportation preferredKnowledge of a Transportation Management System preferredSolid interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skillsSolid customer service skillsAbility to work independently and in a team environmentProficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OutlookBasic knowledge of SAP or ERP systems is preferredMinimal travel required (0 - 5 days per year)Work environment is typical of an office setting#LI- DNIPlease Keep in MindIf you do not meet 100% of these requirements, we at JM still want to hear from you.
