Job summary

Johns Manville is hiring a non-production forklift operator in Phenix City, Alabama. The role loads and unloads product, inspects equipment, and ensures safe handling and shipping preparation. A high school diploma or GED, ten years of forklift experience, and IIG certification are required. You will work near the plant/yards and follow safety rules and PPE usage.

  • Identify damaged product and segregate to prevent shipment of defective items
  • Prepare product for LTL shipments and assist with inventory counts
  • Maintain safety practices and use PPE as required

This position skillfully loads trucks for shipment of product. The essential duties and responsibilities include the following:Inspect forklift daily.Operate forkliftWhile using forklift performs proper lifting and handling methods for handling product safely and without damage to product.Stack cartons in trailer to maximize space.Unloads materials onto or from pallets.Identify product size and understand date code markings on cartons.Prepare product for LTL shipments.Operate Spot Truck.Identify damaged product and segregate so defective product will not be shipped to customers.Consolidate and inspect all material to ensure product/inventory integrityCount products in warehouse for month-end and year-end inventory counts.Always use safe work practices, follows all safety rules and procedures, immediately reports any hazardous conditions, fully participate in safety programs.Perform safety observations and complete training assignments.Wears all personal protective equipment as required by management, including but not limited to all or some of the following; protective shoes, glasses, ear plugs, bump cap or hard hat, gloves, dust mask or respirator.Regular attendance is required.Performs other duties as directed.Qualifications:High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and ten years in role with demonstrated skill.IIG Forklift CertifiedAbility to read, write and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.Incumbent must be physically able to perform essential job functions.
