A manufacturing firm is seeking a Shipping and Receiving Manager to oversee all shipping operations. The successful candidate will lead a team, ensure compliance with company policies, and drive efficiency in shipping and receiving processes while maintaining safety standards in a dynamic environment.

Job Summary
The Shipping and Receiving Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the handling of all inbound and outbound shipments. This role ensures that all company policies, shipping guidelines and regulatory requirements are met while leading a team of shipping coordinators and a janitorial specialist. The manager plays a critical role in maintaining safety in a manufacturing environment, on-time delivery performance, and overall shipping/receiving efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, coordinate, and direct daily shipping and receiving operations to support production, customer(s) and client(s) requests.
Manage a team that includes a shipping and receiving specialist and warehouse janitorial specialist. Oversee site training, scheduling and performance reviews for all direct reports.
Ensure all shipments are packed to the customer/clients’ standards, all packing lists and labels are added, and appropriate carriers are assigned for delivery.
Calculate carton dimensions and weights for all shipping quotes as per the RFQ process.
Oversee all receiving processes to include verification of all materials and finished goods, all items are inspected and counted for accuracy and damage.
Manage all international shipping to include shipments of containers and air freight coming from China.
Research and send all pertinent tracking information to the client while also CC all associated sales and customer solutions team members.
Send POD’s when necessary while CC the finance team.
Responsible for calculating all tariffs and duties/fees for all outbound and inbound shipments.
Enter all shipping information into client portals.
Collaborate with operations, supply chain, CS Team, manufacturing and engineering to increase communication and efficiency with all work groups.
Ensure all Hi-Lo qualified individuals are up to date on all qualifications and training. Schedule training classes when necessary.
Maintain accurate records of all inbound/outbound transactions, including bills of lading, packing slips and freight invoices.
Monitor all freight costs, carrier performance, negotiate with carriers and find cost savings when able.
Drive process improvements to reduce errors or discrepancies and improve client and customer satisfaction.
Maintain an organized, clean and safe warehouse environment.
Qualifications And Skills
Associates degree or equivalent experience preferred.
3-5 years of experience in shipping, receiving, or logistics, with at least 2 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing facility.
Strong knowledge of shipping regulations (LTL, FTL, DSL, international), customs requirements, freight documentation and tariff information.
Preferable proficiency with ERP/WMS systems (Monday, Cin.7) and shipping platforms (FedEx/UPS portals).
Must be forklift certified and familiar with loading/unloading best practices.
Strong organizational, analytical, prioritization and communication skills.
Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and through email.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Must bring a team mentality, fresh ideas and solutions.
Work Environment
Manufacturing facility and warehouse
Exposure to temperature fluctuations, high noise and physical activity.
PPE is required and is provided by Firebolt (safety shoes, safety glasses and hearing protection).
