Job summary

UNACEM North America seeks a senior logistics leader to drive end-to-end logistics strategy and execution across inbound raw material logistics, outbound distribution, terminal operations, and multimodal transportation networks. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Operations Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 8–10 years of progressive experience in logistics, transportation, supply chain, distribution, or terminal operations.
  • Experience managing multimodal transportation networks.
  • Experience negotiating carrier contracts and managing third-party logistics providers.
  • Experience leading cross-functional operational teams and logistics optimization initiatives.
  • Experience with SAP, Transportation Management Systems (TMS), and business intelligence tools is preferred.
  • Advanced English proficiency required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead inbound logistics operations, ensuring timely and reliable supply of raw materials.
  • Lead outbound logistics operations, ensuring efficient product dispatch across rail and truck networks.
  • Oversee terminals, inventory flow, and operational continuity across locations.
  • Develop and execute strategies to optimize total logistics cost per ton while maintaining safety and reliability.
  • Manage transportation procurement, including RFQs, negotiations, and contract administration.
  • Develop route guides, capacity planning models, and multimodal strategies for efficiency.
  • Monitor carrier performance via service, cost, and safety scorecards and drive improvements.
  • Gather market intelligence to support strategic sourcing and optimization.
  • Lead transportation sustainability efforts and monitor emissions.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations, carrier qualifications, and risk management standards.
  • Partner with Operations, Commercial, and Finance to align logistics with business priorities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve terminal utilization, transportation productivity, and inventory positioning.
  • Lead and develop the logistics organization with a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

Role Summary

Leads the end-to-end logistics strategy and execution across UNACEM North America, overseeing inbound raw material logistics, outbound product distribution, terminal operations, and multimodal transportation networks (rail and truck). The role ensures reliable material availability, optimized logistics cost per ton, operational continuity, and efficient transportation performance while building strategic partnerships with logistics providers and supporting the company's long term growth objectives.

Purpose

Lead the execution and continuous optimization of UNACEM North America\'s logistics network by ensuring efficient inbound and outbound transportation, effective terminal administration, reliable material availability, and cost-effective logistics operations across rail and truck transportation systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead inbound logistics operations, ensuring the timely and reliable supply of raw materials to support uninterrupted manufacturing operations.
  • Lead outbound logistics operations, ensuring efficient product dispatch, transportation execution, and customer service performance across rail and truck transportation networks.
  • Oversee the administration, performance, and operational efficiency of company terminals, ensuring adequate inventory availability, optimized material flow, and operational continuity.
  • Develop and execute logistics strategies that optimize total logistics cost per ton while maintaining safety, service levels, and operational reliability.
  • Manage transportation procurement activities, including carrier sourcing, RFQs, negotiations, contract administration, and long-term carrier relationship management across rail and trucking providers.
  • Develop and maintain strategic transportation route guides, capacity planning models, contingency options and multimodal transportation strategies that maximize efficiency and business flexibility.
  • Monitor carrier performance through service, safety, cost, and operational scorecards, driving continuous improvement initiatives with logistics partners.
  • Gather transportation market intelligence, capacity trends, and freight market insights to support strategic sourcing decisions and transportation optimization.
  • Lead transportation sustainability initiatives, monitoring logistics-related emissions and identifying opportunities to improve environmental performance across transportation networks.
  • Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, carrier qualification requirements, contractual obligations, and risk management standards.
  • Partner with Operations, Commercial, and Finance to align logistics execution with business priorities, production requirements, and customer commitments.
  • Identify opportunities to improve terminal utilization, transportation productivity, network efficiency, inventory positioning, and overall logistics performance.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the logistics organization while fostering a culture of safety, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Knowledge
  • Advanced knowledge of inbound and outbound logistics operations.
  • Strong understanding of multimodal transportation networks, including rail and truck logistics.
  • Knowledge of terminal administration, inventory flow, and material handling operations.
  • Experience in carrier management, transportation procurement, and contract negotiations.
  • Knowledge of transportation planning, freight optimization, and logistics cost management.
  • Understanding of end-to-end supply chain processes.
  • Knowledge of Transportation Management Systems (TMS), ERP systems (SAP preferred), and logistics analytics tools.
  • Advanced analytical, financial, and operational problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong understanding of logistics KPIs, service levels, transportation performance, and cost optimization.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Power BI proficiency.
  • Advanced English proficiency required.

  • Develops transportation and logistics solutions that balance cost, service, inventory availability, and operational continuity across multiple business locations.
  • Optimizes multimodal transportation networks by evaluating carrier performance, freight markets, routing alternatives, and terminal operations.
  • Identifies logistics bottlenecks and implements corrective actions to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and strengthen service performance.
  • Resolves transportation capacity, terminal, inventory, and carrier-related challenges while minimizing operational disruptions.
  • Leads continuous improvement initiatives focused on logistics productivity, transportation efficiency, and supply chain reliability.
Interaction & Influence
  • Partners with Operations, Commercial and Finance to align logistics execution with business priorities.
  • Leads strategic relationships with rail operators, trucking companies, terminal operators, and third party logistics providers.
  • Negotiates commercial agreements and service expectations with logistics partners to improve operational and financial performance.
  • Provides logistics performance updates, transportation insights, and strategic recommendations to executive leadership.

Experience & Education
