  • Evaluate freight carriers, monitor freight costs, and manage invoices.
  • Manage departmental costs within budgets.
  • Maintain warehouse safety and industrial hygiene standards and seek efficiency improvements.

Job description

The Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing domestic and international logistics operations within a manufacturing environment, including shipping, receiving, warehousing, inventory control, and storage of raw materials and finished products. This position manages hazardous and non-hazardous material shipments, ensures compliance with customer, quality, safety, and legal requirements, and coordinates with Sales, Operations, EHS, and other departments. The Logistics Manager also provides direct supervision to warehouse personnel and manages freight providers, costs, and related documentation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct shipping and receiving activities, including preparation, labeling, final inspection, pickup, shipment, and documentation for domestic and international orders.
  • Manage the shipment of hazardous and non-hazardous materials in accordance with applicable requirements.
  • Develop shipping and storage strategies based on material restrictions, limitations, and operational requirements.
  • Coordinate with EHS to ensure the safe storage and separation of reactive chemicals.
  • Receive and verify raw materials, packaging materials, and manufactured products, including item counts and lot numbers.
  • Oversee warehouse operations and supervise Warehouse Operators, including performance evaluation, policy enforcement, and disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Review material receipts against purchase orders and maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counts.
  • Ensure products and materials are properly labeled, stored, and documented.
  • Evaluate freight carriers, monitor freight costs, review freight invoices, and manage freight claims.
  • Manage departmental costs in accordance with established budgets.
  • Maintain warehouse safety and industrial hygiene standards while identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, safety, and continuous learning within the department.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of logistics experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • International logistics/shipping experience.
  • Hands‑on inventory management experience.
  • Experience working with ERP systems.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications.
Special Requirements
  • Current IMDG/IATA certification for handling, packaging, and shipping hazardous materials.
  • Full‑time, exempt position.
  • Schedule is Monday through Friday, generally 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Some schedule flexibility is permitted; core hours of 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. must be maintained.
  • Ability to occasionally stand, walk, sit, handle objects, reach with hands and arms, and climb stairs.
  • Ability to lift or move office products and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.

This position operates in both industrial and administrative environments. The role uses standard office equipment and requires regular interaction with warehouse and logistics operations. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, generally 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with required core hours of 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The position does not require travel.
