Job summary

Kroger Great Lakes Distribution Center in Cleveland, TN seeks an engineering leader to direct and schedule plant engineering/maintenance functions for optimum equipment and energy efficiency. You will develop a 3-year capital plan, write contracts, coordinate projects and ensure safety and regulatory compliance.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree and 5–10 years in food-industry engineering or maintenance, with strong project management, budgeting, and AutoCAD/Excel skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience that prepares for the role.
• 5-10 years of related experience in the food industry dealing with project management, preventive maintenance administration, guiding a maintenance workforce, establishing and operating to a budget, EPA and OSHA requirements, GMP knowledge.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software programs with advanced Excel skills.
• Experience using AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering counsel and leadership at the DC level.
• Evaluate and develop engineering projects for the facility.
• Recommend equipment/processing system modifications and/or replacement to improve facility performance.
• Keep current on technology as it pertains to the facility's operation.
• Prepare and submit engineering reports as necessary.
• Establish and administer an effective predictive/preventative maintenance program, work order procedures and an adequate parts inventory.
• Train maintenance/engineering associates and determine appropriate training and development needs.
• Develop and oversee department budget.
• Create and maintain appropriate engineering records, including equipment records and manuals, drawings and diagrams, inspection reports and legal records as required by law.
• Monitor and control energy consumption and execute plans which promote effective energy usage.
• Partner with outside agencies to insure plant compliance with current regulations.

Job description

Responsible for directing, scheduling and controlling all plant engineering/maintenance functions in order to obtain optimum efficiencies from the equipment, utilities and overall functions. Prioritize the distribution centers (DC's) needs, develop and implement a 3-year capital plan. Include capital appropriation requests, develop project schedules and work teams, write contracts, coordinate project activities, control project funds and implement startup/training procedures as necessary. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Facilitative coaching style of management and pursues non-directed activities in dealing with plant opportunities.
• 5-10 years of related experience in the food industry dealing with: project management, preventative maintenance administration, guiding a maintenance workforce, establishing and operating to a budget, utility utilization, EPA and OSHA requirements, knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), writing and justification of projects.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software programs with advanced skills in Excel.
• Experience using AutoCad.
