Food Safety Manager

Provide food safety leadership to ensure compliance with federal, state, and Kroger food safety and quality standards related to the receiving, storage, and distribution of food and non-food products. Utilize technical expertise to assure product safety and quality, and provide training and proactive solutions for sanitation teams, facility management, and associates on food safety and sanitation. Develop procedures, conduct inspections, and coordinate all cleaning functions of the facility and grounds. Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate Degree in food science or related field, or 3 years of food safety experience in retail, distribution, or manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • If not certified, development plan for PCQI, FDQI, HACCP certification within the first 9 months.
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills.
Desired Skills and Experience:
  • GFSI experience.
  • Experience with USDA, FDA, State inspections, FSMA, HACCP, and Pest Control.
  • Food Safety Leadership experience.
  • FDA Preventive Controls Training (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual).
  • Certification in Seafood HACCP.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement policies to meet federal regulations and industry standards for food safety, quality, and sanitation.
  • Lead and support site personnel in food safety and sanitation duties, fostering a culture of safety.
  • Implement continuous improvement projects to enhance food safety and sanitation performance.
  • Provide training and documentation for Supply Chain personnel on food safety and quality.
  • Maintain relationships with regulatory agencies such as FDA, USDA, and local authorities.
  • Manage GFSI certification processes.
  • Ensure proper receipt, storage, and distribution of safe, quality foods.
  • Oversee accuracy in receiving processes and resolve discrepancies.
  • Assist in food safety audits and address issues promptly.
  • Supervise and coach team members, conduct performance reviews.
  • Travel to other site locations as needed.
  • Perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
