We are looking for a dynamic, organized self-starter to join our Product Support and Logistics Division as a Logistics Engineer in Lebanon, IN.

TheProduct Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. We touch nearly every element of the services value stream from procurement to design and manufacturing to distribution. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts Distribution of Cat Parts, Integrated Logistics, segment Procurement and the design and manufacture of Wear Components (Undercarriage and GET) and Maintenance Components (Seals, Tubes & Hardware, Hose & Couplings, Fluids and Filters).

The IntegratedLogistics Services (ILS)team provides end-to-end integrated logistics solutions designed, deployed and executed to support Caterpillar’s global footprint of manufacturing plants, suppliers, distribution centers and dealers. Capabilities include:

  • Packaging Design and Returnable Container Management
  • Inbound International and Domestic Transportation
  • Logistics Network Operations – including Manufacturing Parts Nodes, Site Logistics and Cross Dock Operations
  • Outbound Logistics – International and Domestic: Specialized Cargo and Product Distribution Solutions

Job Summary:

As a Logistics Engineer you are responsible for leading the proposal, design, and implementation of all related logistics processes, machinery & equipment, storage concepts, among other things for Cat Parts or Integrated Logistics Services projects. This position is located in the Lebanon, IN area and reports to the ILS Americas Logistics Engineering Manager.

What You Will Do:

  • Design and implement successful logistics solutions
  • Utilize technical skills as well as soft skills
  • The technical skills are defined in 7 key skills:
  • Data purification & analysis; warehouse storage design & manufacturing point-of-use (POU) design; machinery & equipment design and procurement; workforce & equipment planning; logistics process design; inventory transfer & rearrangement planning; and integrating supply chain knowledge into warehouse design
  • Knowledgeable about the local WMS system and can integrate this into the overall design of the facility
  • Demonstrate intermediate to fully skilled levels of the following values-based competencies (VBCs): integrity & trust; building inclusive relationships; customer focus; problem solving; priority setting; and dealing with uncertainty.

What You Have (Required Skills):

  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • Logistics Management: Knowledge of logistics and management; ability to follow proper processes and run operations for effective and efficient movement of materials and finished products.
  • Materials Handling and Management: Knowledge of material handling and management in plants; ability to perform, monitor and improve processes related to storage, transportation and handling of raw and hazardous materials.
  • Collaborating: Knowledge of collaborative techniques; ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
  • Lean Manufacturing: Knowledge of the philosophy, principles and implementation approaches of lean manufacturing; ability to integrate and implement lean manufacturing philosophy into existing production and management processes.

What Will Put You Ahead (Preferred Skills):

  • College degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Industrial engineering
  • Project Management experience
  • 8+ years of related experience - preferably in warehouse operations, supply chain, or manufacturing
  • Strong PC Skills (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, & AutoCAD)
  • Logistics Engineering project implementation skills, including but not limited to warehouse automation.

Summary Pay Range:

$110,520.00 - $165,840.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location,job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
