Logistics Director Location: Tampa, FL Industry: Defense / Government Contracting / Logistics / Materials Management Employment Type: Full-Time/Direct Hire Salary: up to $200,000-225,000 (depending on experience) Travel: Approximately 25%, with potential international travel as required Work Environment: Office environment

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be a hands-on logistics and materials management leader with experience building compliant systems from the ground up. This person should be comfortable operating in a government contracting environment, managing government property requirements, preparing for audits, improving logistics processes, and partnering closely with operations, supply chain, finance, program management, and quality teams.

Position Summary

SRG Government Services is supporting a growing defense manufacturing organization seeking an experienced Logistics Director to develop and oversee end-to-end logistics, materials management, inventory control, and government property accountability operations. This individual will be responsible for building scalable logistics processes, ensuring audit readiness, maintaining compliance with government property requirements, and supporting rapid program growth. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with FAR 52.245-1, DFARS, MMAS, Government-Furnished Property, Contractor-Acquired Property, ERP systems, inventory control, transportation, warehousing, and regulated supply chain environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute logistics and materials management strategies across transportation, warehousing, distribution, inventory control, and government property accountability.
  • Establish compliant processes for Government-Furnished Property receipt, tracking, reconciliation, and lifecycle accountability.
  • Oversee inventory management plans, control procedures, cycle counts, reconciliation activities, and documentation.
  • Lead shipping coordination, transportation planning, compliant transfer documentation, and related logistics activities.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce logistics, materials management, and government property policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with FAR 52.245-1, DFARS clauses, MMAS standards, and contract-specific government property requirements.
  • Oversee complete lifecycle accountability for Government-Furnished Property, Contractor-Acquired Property, and company-owned materials.
  • Lead audit readiness and serve as a point of contact for government, prime contractor, and subcontractor audits.
  • Manage property loss investigations, reporting, corrective actions, and closure.
  • Ensure accurate government property and subcontractor property flow-down oversight.
  • Maintain MMAS accountability, documentation, and compliance controls.
  • Oversee ERP setup, configuration, and data integrity for materials management functions.
  • Implement KPIs, dashboards, compliance reports, and performance tracking mechanisms.
  • Identify and implement logistics technologies and automation to improve compliance, accuracy, efficiency, and visibility.
  • Partner cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, program management, finance, quality, and other stakeholders to support contract execution and audit requirements.
  • Assess logistics and materials management risks related to compliance, cost, delivery, inventory security, and program execution.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve accuracy, reduce cost, and maintain audit readiness.
  • Manage budgets, forecasting, carrier relationships, vendor performance, and logistics-related business needs.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Operations, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of experience in logistics, materials management, government property accountability, or related supply chain leadership roles.
  • Direct experience with FAR/DFARS, government property management, and MMAS compliance.
  • Demonstrated experience managing Government-Furnished Property, Contractor-Acquired Property, and lifecycle property accountability.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory control, warehouse operations, transportation management, logistics strategy, and materials management processes.
  • Experience with ERP configuration, setup, or data integrity for materials management functions.
  • Experience supporting audits with DCMA, DCAA, prime contractor property teams, or government property stakeholders.
  • Strong communication, analytical, organizational, and cross-functional leadership skills.
  • Ability to build processes, lead teams, solve complex problems, and operate in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must be able to complete a background investigation and drug screen.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or a related field.
  • Experience in government contracting, regulated manufacturing, defense logistics, or defense supply chain environments.
  • Working knowledge of TMS, WMS, and ERP systems, including platforms such as SAP, Oracle, Deltek, or similar systems.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement certification.
  • Experience establishing compliant GFP, CAP, MMAS, or government property systems within a growing or scaling organization.
  • Experience supporting international logistics, multi-site operations, or defense manufacturing programs.
