Valley Queen in South Dakota seeks a Transportation Coordinator to oversee daily milk pickup, dispatch, and fleet coordination ensuring a reliable supply to processing facilities.
You will work with drivers, supervisors, producers, and operations teams, monitor performance, and maintain regulatory records. Strong computer skills are required; an Associate's degree is preferred.
This position is responsible for coordinating daily transportation operations to ensure the efficient and reliable movement of milk from producers to Valley Queen's processing facilities. This position manages milk pickup scheduling, dispatch activities, and fleet maintenance coordination, while serving as a key communication link between drivers, supervisors, producers, and operation teams. This position monitors transportation performance, equipment availability, regulatory requirements and maximizes fleet utilization to support safe, efficient, and cost-effective transportation operations while maintaining uninterrupted service to plant operations.
This position has no supervisory responsibility.
This position is mainly in an office/intake environment. Occasionally will need to fill in and work would be performed in outside weather conditions including extreme heat and cold.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently will need to sit, stand, or walk. The employee may need to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
This is a full-time position. Hours of work are generally 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Minimal travel is required.
High school diploma or GED is required for this position. Minimum of 2 years of experience in transportation, logistics, dispatching, fleet coordination, supply chain operations, or a related field. Experience coordinating schedules, routes, equipment, or transportation resources in a fast-paced environment. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications and transportation or scheduling software. Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Associate's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, Agriculture, or a related field. Experience in milk transportation, fleet operations, or trucking dispatch. Experience working with telematics, GPS tracking, fleet maintenance systems, or transportation management software. Knowledge of DOT regulations, Hours of Service requirements, and transportation compliance practices. CDL-A with Tanker Endorsement and valid health certificate. Bilingual in English/Spanish.
