Position Summary

The Logistics Coordinator has general responsibility for coordinating and overseeing all operational activities assigned daily. Under the direction of the Operations Supervisor, the Operations Lead oversees associates dedicated to the warehousing, receiving, and shipping of product in a manner consistent with company service and cost objectives.

Associates are expected to meet company objectives in performance, safety, and quality, and to comply with all corporate and site‑specific policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Training Responsibilities:

  • Mentor and train new and existing associates in specific distribution activities to meet customer demands.
  • Train associates on current Standard Operating Procedures for shipping, receiving, picking, and quality control.
  • Assist in forklift operation and certification for associates.

Shipping/Receiving Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and coordinate unloading of inbound shipments, stack product, and stage outbound shipments in accordance with productivity standards. Verify required paperwork with drivers and confirm counts.
  • Load orders efficiently and accurately according to appropriate doors and trailers.
  • Process all shipping, receiving, and picking functions per Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Investigate and resolve shipping and receiving discrepancies.

Customer Service:

  • Maintain a professional appearance and communication style.
  • Communicate with customers by phone, electronic, or in person as needed.
  • Prepare accurate activity reports for site management.

Quality Control Responsibilities:

  • Use documentation to verify correct receipt or shipment of product and accurate picking.
  • Verify quality standards and report damages or discrepancies. Stack, package, shrink wrap, and label products.
  • Process all quality control functions per Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Report issues to the Operations Supervisor or Operations Manager and participate in quality meetings.

Safety, Housekeeping, and Compliance:

  • Comply with ISO standards and safety protocols.
  • Execute safety protocols and promote a safe workplace.
  • Maintain warehouse cleanliness and assist with security.
  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures, corporate and site‑specific policies, safety rules, and OSHA/MSDS standards.
  • Participate in safety meetings.

Labor Management:

  • Direct warehouse work team operations to achieve objectives.
  • Assist associates and temporary labor in productivity sheets and payroll hours.
  • Assist Supervisor in maintaining workforce levels.
  • Participate in scheduling and job assignment.
  • Ensure associates handle products per quality procedures.

Responsibility and Authority:

  • Participate in department meetings.
  • Initiate action to prevent non‑conformities, record problems, and recommend solutions.
  • Report all non‑conformities to the Quality Department.

Equipment Operation:

  • Operate equipment including sit‑down, stand‑up, reach truck, sweeper scrubber, scissor lift, cherry picker, aisle master, pallet jack, and forklift.
  • Maintain equipment, report problems, perform minor maintenance daily, ensure safe operation, and hold active forklift certification.

Maintenance:

  • Assist or perform building, grounds, and equipment maintenance as assigned.

Other Duties:

  • Perform clerical tasks such as answering phones, scheduling, greeting visitors, filing, and record keeping.
  • Work evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least 1 year experience in logistics/distribution or a related environment.
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment; forklift certification required.
  • Comfortable working in unregulated temperatures within warehouse.
  • Basic computer skills, use of RF scanners and WMS functions.
  • English proficiency in reading, writing, and verbal communication.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Effective communication with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to adapt to change and thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2–4 years experience in warehouse, logistics, or distribution environment.
  • 2–4 years proven forklift experience.
  • Current or prior MHE certification.
Physical Demands
  • Occasionally: hand and finger manipulation, sitting, handling products.
  • Frequently: bending.
  • Constantly: walking and standing.
  • Lifting: 21–50 pounds; reach above shoulder, reach outward, squat, or kneel.
Work Environment

The work environment is typically low to moderate noise levels. Exposure to fumes or airborne particles is rare.
