Job summary

Lubbock County seeks a Records Technician to process inmate records, fingerprints, and court communications in a jail environment. The role involves maintaining both physical and computer files and providing information to attorneys, courts, and law enforcement.

Responsibilities include updating DPS and FBI numbers, handling background checks, processing bond and related paperwork, and generating daily financial reports. A High School diploma or GED and strong English communication are required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License and be able to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain inmate records and files, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Process fingerprints and collect fingerprint fees.
  • Enter DPS and FBI numbers and data from rap sheets into computer systems.
  • Coordinate with courts, attorneys, and law enforcement for record checks and inquiries.
  • Process bonds and related paperwork and maintain bond maintenance spreadsheet.
  • Print daily financial reports and manage inmate account deposits and fees.

Job description

Data processing, maintaining all agency, criminal history and financial records. Provide reception to the public, attorneys, and courts. Maintain and update both physical and computer files, provide information to various parties; perform individual inmate record checks for various law enforcement agencies and furnish inmate photographs as needed.

  • ProcessWeekender/WorkRelease/CommunityServicepaperworkandmaintain statistics.
  • Receiveand releaseindividualstoworkassignments.
  • Communicateandcoordinatewiththecourts.
  • Takefingerprintsandcollectfingerprintfees.
  • Process indictment for service, subpoenas, warrants & expunctions;
  • Check for deceased inmates and maintains files.
  • Clean,correct,and fileallinmatebookingsreceived
  • EnterDPSandFBInumbersandadditionaldatafromrapsheetsintocomputer,and files rap sheets.
  • Assists all criminal justice personnel with any request pertaining to record check information.
  • CompleteCR43formsandsendtoDPSAustintoreportarrestmade.
  • ProcessIDbadgesfordepartmentpersonnel,Bondingcompanies,department volunteers, DA's office.
  • Receiveproceedsforcopiesofbackgroundchecks.
  • Scheduleattorneyvisits.
  • Printdailyfinancialreports,collectfeesfrominmateaccounts&preparedeposits.
  • Verifycheckcopiesandmoneyreceipts.
  • Process requests for indigent inmate supplies, inmate grievances and other inmate financial requests.
  • Maintaincommissaryandphonevendor accountingandreporting.
  • Maintainmedicalaccountingsandreporting.
  • Preparemonthlybankreconciliationforinmateaccountandmonthlyfinancial reports.
  • Processbonds,allbondrelatedpaperworkandmaintainbondmaintenance spreadsheet.
  • Filing&dataprocessing.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty. An individual must have the ability to read, write, speak and comprehend the English language. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill(s) and/or abilities required. EDUCATION, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES and/or EXPERIENCE: High SchoolDiploma or GED and must be at least 18 years of age. Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License. Must be able to communicate effectively with others in writing and verbally.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Knowledge of principles and procedures of record keeping. Modern office procedures, methods and computer equipment. Ability to work independently with or without supervision. Effectively handle work environment and conditions which involve: working closely with others; irregular working hours, maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for: making observations, reading and writing, operating assigned equipment, communicating with others; ability to maintain mental capacity which allows the capability of: exercising sound judgment and rational thinking under stressful circumstances, evaluating various options and alternatives and choosing appropriate and reasonable course of action, demonstrating intellectual capabilities during training.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Jail environment: potential emergency situations; close work environment; irregular working hours; possible exposure to body fluids, armed and dangerous persons and communicable diseases. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
