Job summary

Bassett Mechanical is seeking a Logistics Associate to manage inbound and outbound freight, validate deliveries, and prepare essential shipping documents.

The role requires forklift experience, strong organization, and ability to handle packing lists and BOLs. Candidates should be comfortable using ViewPoint and Excel, and able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Physically receive freight into the Bassett facility.
• Prepare and process inbound shipment documentation.
• Input validation of freight receipt into the ViewPoint system.
• Reconcile packing lists with physical deliveries.
• Prepare and resolve damages, loss, and overcharge claims.
• Prepare items for outbound shipment.
• Create bills of lading and packing lists as needed.
• Support a safe and Lean work environment.

Position Purpose

Physically receive freight into the facility, validate it is as expected/ordered, input the receipt into the system and coordinate the movement of the receipt to the place of need. Physically prepare items for shipment up to and including packaging, paperwork documentation and contracting with transportation carriers for the freight movement.

Position Responsibilities

• Physically receive freight into the Bassett facility.


• Prepare, provide, and process all documentation received for inbound shipments.


• Input validation of freight receipt into the ViewPoint computer system.


• Reconcile discrepancies in piece count from the packing list to the physical delivery.


• Prepare and resolve claims for damages, lost shipments, and over charges.


• Physically prepare items for shipment outbound.


• Create BOL’s (bills of lading) and Packing Lists as needed.


• Support and maintain a safe & Lean work environment.


• Other duties as assigned by Logistics Supervisor.

Summary of Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

• High school graduate or equivalent.


• Years of experience will depend on the level of the position (see reference table of Logistics Associate levels on page 2 of this description).


• At least 2 years of previous experience using a forklift to move larger pieces of material.


• Background in construction and/or manufacturing helpful.


• Strong knowledge of shipping and receiving procedures.


• Good organizational skills a must.


• Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.


• Computer skills and ability to learn new computer programs is required. Microsoft Excel knowledge is a plus.


• Ability to interpret a packing list, Bill of Ladings and input the appropriate data into a computer program.
