Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in St. Cloud, MN is seeking experienced Locum Veterinary Technicians for our busy Emergency and Critical Care department. The role focuses on anesthesia induction/monitoring, triage, radiography, phlebotomy, IV access, and critical patient management in a fast-paced setting.

The position offers opportunities to mentor staff, expand clinical skills, and work alongside experienced veterinary professionals in a hospital committed to high-quality care for pets.

Qualifications

• Licensed veterinary technician or eligible to be licensed in the state where employed.
• Experience in emergency/critical care setting preferred.
• Comfort with fast-paced, high-volume emergency duties.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia and manage monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergent cases and record vitals such as temp, HR, RR and BP.
• Perform digital radiography with proper patient positioning and technique.
• Interpret blood pressure and vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes.
• Initiate CPR for at-risk patients as needed.
• Perform phlebotomy and place IV catheters in peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central venous catheters.
• Mentor and train other staff while addressing client concerns.

BluePearl Pet Hospital in St. Cloud, MN is hiring experienced Locum Veterinary Technicians to work in our busy Emergency and Critical Care department .

Shift: Friday, Saturday and Sunday (8am-8pm)

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• H ave a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
