Med Ninjas is seeking a Physician Assistant for Cardiovascular/Cardiothoracic Surgery in Lexington, Kentucky. The locum tenens role spans inpatient and operating room settings with 52 weeks of coverage and a 12-hour rotate schedule, including day and night shifts.

The candidate will first assist in cardiothoracic procedures such as CABG, AVR, MVR, and thoracic resections, plus rounding and ICU coverage. Kentucky license preferred; ACLS, BLS, and DEA required.

Responsibilities

Position Details

• Patient Population: Cardiothoracic surgery patients
• Setting: Inpatient / Operating Room
• Responsibilities: First assisting in cardiothoracic surgeries, inpatient rounds, ICU and telemetry coverage, and procedures
• Required Procedures: CABG, AVR, MVR, thoracotomy, lung resection, vein harvesting, and chest tube placement
• EMR System: Epic
• Support Staff: Surgical team support
• Patient Volume: Approximately 1–2 surgeries daily
• Schedule: Weekday coverage, 7:00 AM–7:00 PM, with overnight call from 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
• Weekend Coverage: 24-hour coverage, 7:00 AM Friday through 7:00 AM Monday, for approximately one weekend per month
• Call Requirements: 1–2 call days per week, including overnight call and weekend coverage

• November 12 at 7:00 AM – November 15 at 7:00 AM
• November 25 at 7:00 AM – November 30 at 7:00 AM
• December 18 at 7:00 AM – December 28 at 7:00 AM
• January 22 at 7:00 AM – January 25 at 7:00 AM
• January 29 at 7:00 AM – February 2 at 7:00 AM
• February 5 at 7:00 AM – February 8 at 7:00 AM

Submission Requirements

• Board certification required
