Med Ninjas seeks a Nurse Practitioner specialized in Cardiovascular/Cardiothoracic Surgery for a locum tenens assignment in Lexington, Kentucky. The role covers first assisting in cardiothoracic operations, inpatient rounds, ICU and telemetry, and various procedures with an Epic EMR system.

Coverage blocks run through 52 weeks with 7:00 AM–7:00 PM weekday hours and night/weekend call; weekend 24-hour coverage approximately one weekend per month.

Qualifications

• Board certification required
• Active Kentucky license highly preferred; candidates willing to obtain a Kentucky license may be considered, subject to facility approval
• ACLS, BLS, and DEA required

Position Details

• Patient Population: Cardiothoracic surgery patients
• Setting: Inpatient / Operating Room
• Responsibilities: First assisting in cardiothoracic surgeries, inpatient rounds, ICU and telemetry coverage, and procedures
• Required Procedures: CABG, AVR, MVR, thoracotomy, lung resection, vein harvesting, and chest tube placement
• EMR System: Epic
• Support Staff: Surgical team support
• Patient Volume: Approximately 1–2 surgeries daily
• Schedule: Weekday coverage, 7:00 AM–7:00 PM, with overnight call from 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
• Weekend Coverage: 24-hour coverage, 7:00 AM Friday through 7:00 AM Monday, for approximately one weekend per month
• Call Requirements: 1–2 call days per week, including overnight call and weekend coverage

• November 25 at 7:00 AM – November 30 at 7:00 AM
• December 18 at 7:00 AM – December 28 at 7:00 AM

• February 5 at 7:00 AM – February 8 at 7:00 AM
