Job summary

77 consultants is seeking an experienced cardiothoracic surgeon to join a hospital-based team in Kentucky. Responsibilities include adult cardiac surgery (CABG with arterial revascularization), heart valve repair/replacement, and general thoracic procedures.

The role involves ICU management of high-risk patients and collaboration in a hybrid OR/Cath Lab for structural heart procedures. The position requires board certification, BLS, and Kentucky license preference; strong experience with Impella

Qualifications

• Board-certified cardiothoracic surgeon.
• Active BLS certification.
• Kentucky medical license preferred or ability to licensure promptly.

Responsibilities

• Perform adult cardiac surgery (CABG, valve repair/replacement).
• Manage ICU for high-risk cardiothoracic patients.
• Participate in Structural Heart procedures in hybrid OR/Cath Lab.
• Support in hybrid OR with Impella devices.

Availability Periods

• Primary Preference: 12/24 - 12/28 (candidates with this availability will be prioritized)
• Secondary Availability: 12/28 - 1/4

Position Details

• Practice Setting: Hospital-Based
• Schedule: 24-hour shifts, from 7 AM to 7 AM

Average CT Surgical Cases Per Day: 1-2

• Annual Emergency Room Volume: 30,000
• Operating Rooms: 1 dedicated Heart OR, 1 Hybrid OR
• Documentation System: EPIC EMR

Support Staff

Includes a First Assist with endoscopic saphenous vein harvesting experience, a focused anesthesia team dedicated to cardiothoracic surgery, and a collaborative ICU team.

Patient Demographic

• Adult and Geriatric
• Monthly Shift Requirement: 4-7 shifts

Key Responsibilities

• Adult Cardiac Surgery: Required focus area
• CABG (including arterial revascularization using internal mammary and radial arteries; redo cases)
• Heart Valve Repair/Replacement
• General Thoracic Surgical Procedures (including tube thoracostomy, tracheostomy, bronchoscopy, VATS decortication/lung biopsy, pericardial window)
• ICU Management of high-risk cases (including Impella insertion/removal/bailout; medical management of critically ill patients)
• Support for Structural Heart Procedures (in hybrid OR/catheterization lab)

Mandated Qualifications

Clean Background Check: Required
